Cobblestoning
Saturday 13th June 2020

Grid Reference: SX 981970
Instructor: Laura Tunstall
Cobbles are small stones, laid into the ground to form a hard but free draining surface. Before the introduction of concrete, many farmyards were cobbled. Each stone must be individually bedded into the sandy soil substrate and this makes the job time consuming and highly skilled. You'll spend much of the day on your hands and knees so knee pads or kneelers are essential.
